Pathankot: Six of the seven accused in the Kathua eight-year-old rape-and-murder case were on Monday found guilty by a special court in Pathankot. Pathankot sessions court has sentenced three accused Deepak Khajuria, Sanjeev Kumar and Parvesh Kumar to life imprisonment. The court has imposed a penalty of one lakh rupees.
At the same time, the court has found guilty other policemen, who have tampered with evidence. These three have also been imposed a penalty of 50-50 thousand rupees. Earlier, during the hearing on Monday, the court convicted 6 out of 7 accused.
Sanji Ram, Deepak Khajuria were convicted under 302 (murder), 376 (rape), 120 B (conspiracy), 363 (kidnapping). Court convicted policemen Anand Dutta, Surendra Kumar, Tilak Raj guilty under section 201 (removal of evidence).
Big decision after 17 months
On January 10 Last year, an 8-year-old girl was kidnapped from a Bakkarwal community. After this, on 17th January, his body was recovered in a deteriorating condition. There were protests across the country against this sensational issue and justice was sought for the victim. In this horrendous case, the Jammu and Kashmir Police filed a 15-page charge sheet which contained many shocking disclosures.
SC transferred the case outside J&K, one accused minor
The Supreme Court had ordered the case to be sent out of Jammu and Kashmir, after which the matter was sent to the court of Pathankot, about 100 kilometers from Jammu and 30 kilometers from Kathua. In this case, a total of eight accused were caught, one of them was a minor. The District and Sessions Judge had fixed the charges of rape and murder against seven of the eight accused. The case against the juvenile accused has not started yet and will be heard by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court on his age petition.
Gram Pradhan was the mastermind
After the Supreme Court ordered the transfer of the case from Jammu and Kashmir, the trial began in the first week of June last year and its hearing was also recorded. Gram Pradhan Sanji Ram was the mastermind of the incident.
