Commissioner system implemented in three more cities of UP including Ghaziabad

Lucknow:  The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has implemented the commissionerate system in three more cities to strengthen law and order in the state. In this regard, after passing the proposal in the Yogi cabinet, the police commissioner system has been implemented in these three cities with immediate effect.

The new commissionerate system has been implemented in the three new districts of Uttar Pradesh, Ghaziabad, Agra in western Uttar Pradesh and Prayagraj in the northeast.

First of all, on January 13, 2020, the government implemented the Police Commissioner system in Lucknow and Noida in UP as an experiment.

Then Sujit Pandey in Lucknow and Alok Singh in Noida were posted as Police Commissioners.

In the second phase on 26 March 2021, the police commissioner system was implemented in Kanpur and Varanasi. Then Vijay Singh Meena in Kanpur and A Satish Ganesh in Varanasi were made police commissioners.

Today, in the third phase, the Police Commissioner system has been implemented in Agra, Ghaziabad and Prayagraj.

Uttar Pradesh now has 7 metropolitan/district police commissionerate systems. In the next phase, there is a possibility of implementing the commissionerate system in Meerut, Moradabad, Bareilly.
