Sustainability Summit: “17th Edition BCC&I Environment & Energy Conclave”, Net Zero’s Role in Climate Justice-Roadmap beyond 2030

New Delhi: Equity is crucial for India’s transition to a green economy. The country’s economic priorities are to be aligned with the principles of just transition. Our framework needs to ensure that vulnerable communities including workers in traditional energy sectors, demography of lower income and others are aligned with the prosperity road map. The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) has organized its Sustainability Summit on Net Zero’s Role in Climate Justice-Roadmap beyond 2030 in the esteemed presence of Mr. Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority; Shri S Suresh Kumar, IAS, Chairman, Damodar Valley Corporation; Mr. Deepak Gupta, Director (Projects), GAIL (India) Limited; Mr. Gautam Ray, President, BCC&I and President – Corporate, RPSG Group; Mr. Arnab Basu, President Designate, BCC&I and Advisory Leader, PwC India and Mr. U K Bhattacharya, Chairperson, Energy Environment and Water National Committee, BCC&I and Former Director (Projects), NTPC Limited; today at New Delhi. Mr. Damon DuBord, First Secretary for Energy Affairs, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi; Mr. Andreas Schei, Counsellor for Climate and Environment, Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi; Mr. Franck Viault, Minister-Counsellor, Head of Cooperation, Delegation of the European Union to India and Bhutan were also present for Global Collaborations and Innovative Funding for a lower-carbon future at the Seminar.

*The 17th Edition BCC&I Environment & Energy Conclave witnessed a felicitation ceremony of Shri Ghanshyam Prasad for his exemplary leadership in the areas of inclusive approach towards “Power for All” in our Country.*

*Addressing the session on Power Sector Roadmap in India Shri Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, and Central Electricity Authority said, “If manufacturing shifting from China, India will need more power. We need to reduce Coal in a faster manner. Coal is expected to stay till 2030-35. RE has to go up in the mix.”*

*Speaking on the occasion Mr. Gautam Ray, President, The Bengal Chamber said “The Bengal Chamber has been consistently focusing on Sustainability, Net Zero, Clean Energy and related areas for a long time. We have also set up the BCC&I Sustainability Forum with some of the leading personalities in Sustainability in the Country. The Forum advises the Chamber of converging the initiatives in various sectors towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.”
