New Delhi: Morari Bapu, the renowned spiritual luminary known for his profound knowledge of the Ramayana and his ability to impart its timeless wisdom, has started a nine-day Ram Katha discourse in Delhi centred on the theme “Manas Sanatana Dharma”. The event commenced today on 17 January 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, drawing thousands of devotees, spiritual seekers and listeners from across the world.

Through his discourse, Morari Bapu reflected on the eternal wisdom of Sanatana Dharma and its four basic tenets of Truth, Love, Compassion and Non-Violence. For this reason, for the first time, Morari Bapu picked four central lines from Goswami Tulsidas’ Ramcharitamanas for the nine-day discourse rather than the standard practice that he follows of two lines.

He emphasized, saying, “Satya hi Sanatana Dharma hai, Prem hi Sanatana Dharma hai, Karuna hi Sanatana Dharma hai, Ahmisa hi Sanatana Dharma hai.”

Equally, he said that Vedic Dharma fulfils the four ends of Artha, Dharma, Kama, and Moksha. Explaining the meaning of “Vedic,” Morari Bapu said it is an amalgamation of two words – Vai + Dik, which connote Vaishvik (universal) and Disha (direction or route) respectively.

He also added that Vedic is an all-encompassing philosophy, which also means Vai Dhik, meaning there is no dhik when the meaning of dhik is dhikaar or the act of demeaning anyone or showing anyone small and asprishya (untouchable).

Morari Bapu pointed out that it was a reality that all religions had a date of establishment associated with them, but this was not true of Sanatana Dharma, which is Shashwat Dharma or perennial.

He also said that Sanatana Dharma cannot be destroyed as its roots were upwards and branches downwards, and therefore its roots can never be reached by those who attempt to strike them.

The Ram Katha is being hosted by Acharya Lokesh Muni, noted Jain spiritual leader and advocate of peace, non-violence, interfaith harmony and the founder of the World Peace Centre. However, it is being financially sponsored by devotees of Morari Bapu. It may be noted that this is possibly the first time that a Jain Acharya is getting a Ram Katha organised specifically on the topic of Sanatana Dharma.

The event was inaugurated by Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, former President Ram Nath Kovind and graced by Swami Gurusharanananda Ji Maharaj (the Karshni Peethadhishwar of Raman Reti), Gita Manishi Gyananand Ji Maharaj, and Swami Chidanand Saraswati ji of Parmarth Niketan.

Addressing the gathering, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan said, “One thing is very sure, Dharma can never be totally destroyed by anyone. Sometimes we lose a war, but the battle is never lost by Dharma.” He added, “Ram lives in the heart of every Indian,” saying he hoped the discourse would help “listeners become seekers” and help open their minds and hearts.

Earlier in the day, Morari Bapu visited Raj Ghat and prayed at the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation.

Known for presenting the Ram Charita Manas in a manner that transcends religious and cultural boundaries, Morari Bapu’s Ram Kathas bring together people from diverse backgrounds. His discourses focus on unity, coexistence and social consciousness, encouraging listeners to imbibe spiritual values in everyday life.

The Ram Katha promises to be a spiritual journey of immense depth and insight, providing attendees with the opportunity to delve into the timeless wisdom of the Ramayana and the eternal values of Sanatana Dharma. The Ram Katha in Delhi will continue until 25 January 2026, rooted in devotion, reflection and India’s civilisational and Sanatana ethos.

This spiritual gathering, which is Morari Bapu’s 971st Katha, is open to all irrespective of background. For those unable to attend in person at Bharat Manadapam, the Katha proceedings will be live-streamed.

This Katha will be followed by vegetarian prasad daily by the organisers.

It is important to note that Bapu does not accept any payment for conducting Katha; the discourses, as well as the meals served, are completely free of charge.

Rooted in the eternal values of Satya (Truth), Prem (Love), and Karuna (Compassion), the Ram Yatra reaffirms Bapu’s lifelong mission to spread the light of the Ram Charita Manas and strengthen Sanatana Dharma in the country.
