New Delhi – The Supreme Court has put a major stay on the Waqf Amendment Act implemented by the Central Government.
During the hearing, the Solicitor General asked for 7 days to file a reply, which the court accepted.
The Supreme Court said that till the next hearing, there will be no new appointment under Section 9 under the Council or Board.
No Waqf property will be denotified, whether by registration or government notification.
Only 5 petitions will be heard, the rest will be considered as applications.
The Center has to respond in 7 days, the petitioners will have to file a reply in 5 days after that.
Clear instructions to the government – no Waqf or user-declared Waqf property will be denotified.
This order can have a significant impact in terms of Waqf properties across the country. The date of the next hearing is yet to be decided.
