New Delhi- ‘8th EVEXPO 2018’, India’s biggest eco-friendly Electric Vehicle Technology Expo dedicated to Electric Vehicle technology kick started to an enthusiastic response at Pragti Maidan today.
The Expo was inaugurated by Sh. Nitin Gadkari, Road Transport & Highways Minister, at Hall No. 7 of Pragati Maidan. The Expo is showcasing the latest and technologically advanced, pollution free 2, 3 & 4 wheeled e-vehicles, parts and accessories, charging solutions and technology from around 150 national and international companies.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration, Mr Gadkari said “You would have noticed the rapid change in the electric mobility scenario in this country over the last one year. E-rickshaws have reached all corners of the country and now e-bikes, e-autos and e-buses are also coming. This is the need of the hour as we have surplus electricity, we have coal and now even solar energy also. Crude oil import is draining our forex, so Govt. is encouraging e-mobility, as it is a substitute for importing oil, economical, pollution free mode of transport. Ethanol and Bio fuel is also being encouraged now. I brought e-rickshaws into this country so that millions of poor who are driving cycle-rickshaws and hand carts get relief from this inhuman practice. Around a Crore rickshaw pullers have found new freedom, independence and new hope due to e-vehicle technology which I see as my biggest achievement. At the same time, I urge electric vehicle entrepreneurs making e-rickshaws not to take shortcuts and make quality vehicles. Sub standard vehicles will give bad name to the industry and inconvenience the poor. With big auto makers also coming into e-vehicle industry, only quality products will survive. Instead of Govt. coming with regulations which may be inconvenient to the small players, I request them to self regulate and maintain quality.”
