Nalanda University Gets Award For Sustainable Development

Nalanda University, which has become a symbol of pride for India and especially for Bihar, has once again been honored by the GRIHA Council for its eco friendly campus.  This unique campus is being designed in the lap of nature under the sunami and an efficient leadership of its Vice Chancellor; Professor Sunaina Singh. 

From the continuity with the construction and development work being done in this campus, it seems that in the coming days, there will be a very comfortable environment for visitors in the campus as well as those who are studying and working here. The untiring efforts of Vice Chancellor; Professor Sunaina Singh, this university campus, conceptualized as Net ZEAR, has been awarded GRIHA LD Master Plan 5 Star Rating by GRIHA Council (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment).

 GRIHA Council honored Nalanda University with this prestigious award at the online GRIHA Summit held recently.  Earlier, this 12th GRIHA Summit was inaugurated online by Honorable Vice President of India; Dr M. Venkaiah Naidu.  Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs and Civil Aviation; Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Som Prakash were also present on the occasion as Chief Guest and guests respectively.  Like Vice Chancellor for Nalanda University; Professor Sunaina Singh, Professor Sukhbir Singh, Dean of the School of Buddhist Studies and Mr. Girish Nandan Singh, Retired Engineer-in-Chief, Nodal Officer, University Project, received the award on behalf of Nalanda University.  The event was held on 16 December 2020.
