Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi will be next Chief of Indian Navy who will assume office of Admiral Indian Navy on 30th April 2024 on retiring of present Chief of Indian Navy Admiral R Hari Kumar. Presently he is serving as Vice Chief of Indian Navy and is presently posted at Western Command. Present Chief of Indian Navy; Admiral R Hari Kumar is retiring on 30 th April 2024 thereafter Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi will take over Indian Navy as Chief of Navy staff.
Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi born on 15th May 1964 and was commissioned into the executive branch of Indian Navy on 1st July 1985 as a communication and electronic warfare specialist & strategic leadership ensuring readiness amidst challenges like the Covid-19 pandemic. He is serving Indian Navy for the last 39 years of long and distinguished service background. Before taking over as Vice Chief of Navy staff, Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi had served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command of Indian Navy.
Vice Admiral DK Tripathi has earlier commanded Indian Naval Ships; “Vinash”, “Kirch” and “Trishul”. He has also carried out various important operational and staff appointments which include Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet; Director of Naval Operations, Principal Director, Network Centric Operations and Principal Director, Naval Plans at New Delhi previously. Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi as a Rear Admiral, has served as the Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy and Plans) and the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet.
In the rank of Vice Admiral, he has also served as Commandant of the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Director General of Naval Operations, Chief of Personnel and Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi is an alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa (MP) and National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune (Maharashtra). Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi has undergone various courses at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Naval Higher Command Course, Karanja and Naval Command College at the United States Naval War College, USA.
