NASA Astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore Return Safely After 288-Days Space Mission After a prolonged nine-month stay at the International Space Station, astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have landed safely back on Earth. The duo initially embarked on an eight-day mission but extended their stay to nearly a year.
Williams and Wilmore launched into space on June 5 last year aboard a Boeing Starliner spacecraft and returned this morning via SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft. They splashed down in the ocean off Florida’s coast, concluding their 17-hour journey home alongside NASA’s Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov.
