The 20th Convocation ceremony this year has been organized simultaneously at 9 cities i.e. Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Kanpur, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Delhi. The first phase of Convocation has already been held on February 1, 2019 at the above 9 cities wherein 4271 members were awarded Membership Certificate.

It is also worth mentioning that ICAI now holds the copyright for the internationally acclaimed IFRS system.”
The ICAI conducts Convocation twice every year to award certificates of Membership to newly enrolled Chartered Accountants and to promote bonhomie in the CA fraternity. The Convocation is intended to bring young members of the profession under the umbrella of the fraternity of Chartered Accountants and foster a sense of belongingness to the profession and the Institute.
The Institute has been striving to constantly train and equip its members to become thorough professionals, delivering services of the highest standards with greater credibility, reliability and accountability. The CA Curriculum is so designed that the students get knowledge and expertise in different fields and at the same time also give them the opportunity to excel in one of the subjects which are contemporary in nature. In this manner, the aspiring Chartered Accountant can choose the area of his choice when he enters the Industry or start his own practice.
The Institute also conducts Campus Placement Programmes for its members twice in a year. ICAI successfully conducted its Campus Placement Programme in August-September 2018 wherein 111 companies, with 204 interview teams participated and offered 1593 jobs to members. Highest salary (i.e. cost to company) offered for domestic and international posting were 22.62 lakh and 35 lakh respectively. Many well-known companies from different sectors were amongst the top recruiter, which proves that the industry is upbeat about engaging the young Chartered Accountants.
The opportunities available to Chartered Accountants are not limited to the traditional areas like accounting and finance. Today, CAs are playing key roles in various organisations and are taking decisions in the area of business systems and strategy. Interestingly, some of ICAI members are also playing key roles in other functional areas such as marketing, human resource, technology and so on. The Institute would continue to provide guidance for the growth of the profession in line with changing requirements of stakeholders and enable CA’s to metamorphose as key role players in whatever field they choose to work in.
