Uttar Pradesh: Barely a week later after the general election results, Mayawati hints at snapping alliance with SP- BSP in UP. She indicated to contest UP bypolls alone. BSP supremo hinted to contest the bye-elections to 11 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh on its own. Addressing a meeting of party leaders Mayawati directed them to start preparing for the by-poll. These 11 assembly seats have fallen vacant after the election of the sitting MLAs to Lok Sabha.
Maya allged that Samajwadi Party failed to transfer its votes to BSP candidates. The Yadav community considered the core vote base of the SP, voted for the BJP candidates on the majority of the seats, dumping the alliance candidates.BSP won 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh due to its conventional vote bank.
She cited the poor performance of its alliances in various States in assembly and Loksabha elections. Now BSP wants to focus on its organizational strength and wants to end the dependency on other allies.
Significantly, ending the bitter rivalry of years Mayawati joined hands with Akhilesh Yadav to defeat BJP in UP and made a grand alliance. This grand alliance showed a poor performance in the state, seeing the alliance-outcome now Maya wants to focus on 11 assembly seats in the coming time.
