Lucknow |  Good news for the millions of youths preparing for the police recruitment exam. The Yogi government has recently announced the new dates for the police recruitment exam that was previously canceled. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has decided to hold the written examination for 60,244 posts of Civil Police Constable in the Direct Recruitment-2023 on August 23, 24, 25, and August 30 and 31, 2024. The exam was canceled due to allegations of paper leaks, following student demands. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had instructed officials to reschedule the exam within six months with the highest standards of integrity and transparency. This announcement is part of the state government’s commitment to conducting the exam in a timely, clean, and transparent manner. Notably, detailed guidelines for transparent and clean examination processes, including preparation, selection of exam centers, candidate verification, and prevention of impersonation, were issued by the Uttar Pradesh government on June 19, 2024. The exam will be conducted according to these standards.

5 Lakh Candidates per Shift

The written examination for the 60,244 posts of Civil Police Constable will be held on the scheduled dates. A break in the examination schedule has been provided due to the Janmashtami festival. The exam will be conducted in two shifts each day, with approximately 500,000 candidates appearing in each shift. Candidates will have access to free bus service provided by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). Candidates can use this service by downloading two additional copies of their admit card. One copy must be presented to the bus conductor for travel to the examination center, and the other for travel back to their district after the exam.

Crackdown on Paper Leaks

It is noteworthy that the Uttar Pradesh government has notified the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Ordinance-2024 on July 1, 2024, to prevent unfair practices in public exams, such as paper leaks and tampering with answer sheets. The ordinance stipulates that using unfair means, cheating, or conspiring to leak or replicate the question paper is considered a criminal offense under this act and is punishable. Offenders may face fines of up to one crore rupees and life imprisonment.
