Moradabad: A meeting of the Rashtriya Baheliya Janjati Vikas Manch was held at a banquet hall in Khushhalpur, where National President Nem Singh Baheliya announced that the Uttar Pradesh government will soon establish a special board for the welfare of nomadic and denotified tribes.

The proposed plan includes providing colonies and housing facilities for these communities along with initiatives to ensure education for their children.

Highlighting the historical contribution of these tribes, Nem Singh Baheliya said that communities like Nat, Banjara, Bawariya, Sasi, Kanjhar, Kalbeliya, Sapera, and Jogi have played the role of warriors during foreign invasions. “They fought with immense courage, sometimes against the Mughals and sometimes against the British,” he noted.

Citing the example of the Vantangiya community, the president recalled how the current BJP government granted them the status of revenue villages, voting rights, as well as facilities like houses, schools, and hospitals. Similarly, communities such as Musahar, Kol, Tharu, Gaur, Chero, and Sahariya have also benefited from government schemes. Potters (Kumhars), Nishads, and Rajbhars have also been linked to the mainstream of development.

He further added that now nomadic and denotified tribes will also be given land leases and assured voting rights by the government.
