London/Washington/New Delhi :

New York, November 4 — Just hours before the New York City mayoral election, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a direct warning regarding federal funding to the city. Trump stated that if Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the November 4 election, New York could face significant federal funding cuts.

Federal funds are allocated to cities across the country to support development and essential public services. Writing on his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump said there was “very little chance” New York City would receive anything beyond the “absolute minimum” level of federal funding if Mamdani became mayor.

The remark, coming so close to election day, has sparked controversy and debate across political circles, with critics accusing Trump of using federal funds as a political weapon to influence local elections. Mamdani’s campaign has not yet officially responded to the President’s statement.
