BMW-Borne High-Tech Gang Busted in Ghaziabad; Stolen Telecom Equipment Worth ₹1 Crore Recovered

Ghaziabad: In a major breakthrough, Ghaziabad Police have busted an alleged interstate gang involved in stealing high-value electronic equipment from mobile towers across several states. Three accused were arrested during the operation, and stolen telecom equipment worth nearly ₹1 crore, along with a luxury BMW car allegedly used in the crimes, was recovered.

The arrests were made in a joint operation by the SWAT Team, Crime Branch, and Tronica City Police. According to police, the suspects were caught red-handed while allegedly attempting to steal a Remote Radio Unit (RRU) from a mobile tower in the Tronica City area.

Based on the accused persons’ disclosures, police recovered 20 Remote Radio Units (RRUs), seven Baseband Units (BBUs), a checking machine, burglary tools, and the BMW car believed to have been used during the thefts. The total value of the recovered equipment is estimated at around ₹1 crore.

Police said the gang allegedly targeted mobile towers in Ghaziabad, Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh, stealing expensive telecom components such as RRUs and BBUs. The stolen equipment was reportedly sold through scrap dealers before being routed further.

Preliminary investigations have also indicated that some of the stolen telecom equipment may have been trafficked overseas, including to Thailand and Hong Kong. Police are now probing the suspected international network and the supply chain linked to the stolen goods.

The arrested accused have been identified as Aamir, Adnan alias Ajju, and Saurabh. During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to involvement in multiple mobile tower thefts across different states.

Police further stated that the prime accused, Aamir, has previous criminal cases registered against him, including charges related to attempt to murder and murder. Authorities are continuing the investigation to identify other members of the alleged syndicate and trace the complete distribution network of the stolen telecom equipment.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to establish the full extent of the gang’s operations and any possible international links.
