Moscow: The Russia-Ukraine war, which began on February 24, 2022, has now continued for more than four years, with no clear end in sight. When the conflict started, many expected Russia to secure a swift victory over Ukraine. However, backed by sustained military and financial assistance from several Western nations and allies, Ukraine has continued to resist Russian forces.
Since the beginning of the war, Russia has carried out extensive military operations across Ukraine, causing widespread destruction. In recent months, however, Ukraine has intensified its attacks inside Russian territory using drones and missiles, leading to increasing casualties and damage.
According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, Ukrainian attacks on civilian areas between July 15 and July 24 resulted in 499 civilian casualties, including 86 deaths, among them six children. The remaining victims were injured and are receiving medical treatment, Russian authorities said.
Zakharova described the strikes as “acts of terrorism” carried out by the Kyiv regime, accusing Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure. According to the Russian government, Ukraine has increasingly relied on drones and missile strikes to attack Russian territory.
Russia claims that the latest Ukrainian attacks targeted multiple regions, damaging buses, residential buildings, warehouses, oil facilities, and civilian vehicles. Russian officials also alleged that schools, hospitals, and other social infrastructure were affected. Fires reportedly broke out in several locations, and numerous buildings sustained significant damage.
The claims regarding civilian casualties and infrastructure damage have been made by Russian authorities. Independent verification of these figures has not been possible, and Ukrainian officials have not immediately responded to the allegations.
