UP STF Arrests Four Ivory Tuskars From Lucknow; In Joint Operation Of Forest Deptt and Wild Life Crime Control Bureau

Lucknow/Noida: UP STF in a joint operation in co-ordination with Wild Life Crime Control Bureau and Awadh Forest Range today and succeeded in arresting four persons alleged to be involved in illegal ivory trading, from Lucknow under Wildlife Protection Act. All the four accused were arrested during finalising the deal on the information and identification of police informant.

The UP STF was getting inputs during inter agencies meetings in last few days that some persons in Lucknow are involved in illegal trading of ivory (elephant tooth). In this connection, the Senior Superintendent of Police(STF) directed his officials of different units to collect relevant information in this regard from all the sources and take action on the subject.

The Additional SP(STF) made a team in this regard under Sub Inspector Vinay Kumar Singh who was deputed to collect and access the modus operandi of this gang and to nab these illegal traders of ivory who in turn co-ordinated with various units and collected all infirmation relevant to the trade. During gathering of information he came to know that one Surendra Kumar, a resident of Khatima, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttrakhand was having an ivory (elephant tooth) to whom he wanted to stuck a deal with some one in Lucknow. The STF team and Forest Department team of Awadh range, in a joint operation nabbed all four accused who were involved in deal from Lucknow when the deal was to be finalised on way to Badshah Nagar Metro Station to Mahanagar in Lucknow today.

Out of all four arrested accused; Kanhaiya, Anwar and Ramesh all the three are from Bareilly in UP, however, another one; Surendra Singh is from Khatima under district Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand.
