Delhi: Ahead of World Heart Day, Neuberg Diagnostics, India’s fourth-largest diagnostic lab chain, had arranged the ‘World Heart Ride’ to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Through the rally, Neuberg aimed to encourage everyone to know major risk factors related to CVD, the steps one can take to fight, prevention and control measures, and how kins can care for loved ones.
Shiv Charan Goel, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi MLA from the Moti Nagar assembly constituency in Delhi, flagged off the ride. He said, “Owing to COVID-19 pandemic, these awareness efforts around life-threatening diseases are need of the hour. Staying informed about CVD can help each one of us to cope when diagnosed and take control of the condition.”
He added, “The enthusiasm of Neuberg and these cyclist spreading awareness is commendable. I hope this first baby step towards encouraging people to stay informed about complications related to heart will go a long way in tackling this dreaded disease.”
Dr. Amrita Singh, Chief of Lab Services, Neuberg Diagnostics, said, “Growing evidence suggests that cardiovascular disease incidences have gone up during pandemic. Interestingly, during lab tests, we observed that many individuals at risk of CVD were completely unaware of symptoms which usually consist of raised blood pressure, glucose, lipids, and obesity. Due to a lack of awareness, the early diagnosis did not happen. This further led to severe CVD-related challenges and premature deaths. For this and similar other reasons, at Neuberg, we have committed that we will continue to do our bit in creating awareness around health and wellness-related issues.”
