New Delhi: WSCC Team visited Bhagpat Gurdwara Samagan, which was organised collectively by local and Delhi Sangat on occasion of Shaheedi Purab of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib ji

Guru Tegh Bahadur sahib ji, Ninth Sikh Guru, made the supreme sacrifice to protect the religious freedom of oppressed Kashmiri Pandits. On the orders of Mughal Ruler Aurangzeb, Guru Tegh Bahadar’s head was severed from his body by the executor at Chandani Chowk, Delhi in 1675 A.D. There was great consternation and confusion. At that time, Guru Tegh Bahadar’s headless body was taken by Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara to his house in Raisina, near the present Parliament House of India in Delhi (Now called Rakab Ganj Gurdwara), for Cremation and Bhai Jaita, a devoted Sikh came forward and picked up Guru’s severed head (Sheesh) swiftly from the site, covered it respectfully and slipped out of the crowd for onward journey.

Avoiding the Mughul forces, Bhai Jaita started his journey with Sheesh from Delhi with first night’s halt at Baghpat and reached Anandpur Sahib in Punjab and offered the sacred Sheesh respectfully to Guru Tegh Bahadar’s son Guru Gobind Singh.
The Guru embraced Bhai Jaita and said RANGRETA – GURU KA BETA: Rangreta is the son of the Guru.

To commemorate this journey and to preserve our heritage, yatra from Delhi and keertan samagam was planned on December 5th, 2021.
