Ghaziabad:. The Samajwadi Party on Wednesday declared Poonam Yadav as its official mayor candidate by cutting the ticket of its previously announced candidate Neelam Garg. Poonam Yadav is the wife of BSP leader Sikandar Yadav and Sikandar Yadav himself has contested the mayoral election in 2015 on BSP ticket in the deputy mayor election.

Let us tell you that three days ago, the SP had declared Neelam Garg, wife of Ghaziabad’s SP leader PN Garg, as the mayor candidate of its party and had also given the party symbol to Neelam on Tuesday, but suddenly on Wednesday, the SP cut Neelam Garg’s ticket. Poonam Yadav, wife of BSP leader Sikandar Yadav, has been declared as its official mayor candidate.

This is not the first time that in Ghaziabad, the SP has cut the ticket of one of its previously announced candidates and given it to a new candidate at the last moment. Earlier, in the Lok Sabha elections held in the year 2019, the SP had given the ticket to BSP leader Suresh Bansal by cutting the ticket from the pre-announced Surendra Munni. Similarly, in the 2012 assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party had declared Rajpal Tyagi as its candidate at the last moment by cutting the ticket of its first declared candidate Sagar Sharma.

Now in the Mayor’s election also, keeping its old tradition of changing the candidate at the last moment, the Samajwadi Party has handed over the ticket to Poonam Yadav by cutting the ticket of the previously announced candidate Neelam Garg. Regarding this, many types of political discussions were happening across the city on Wednesday. SP has given a message of respecting the past and Dalits by giving ticket to OBC woman on general seat.
