Ghaziabad: The historic and revered Siddhapeeth Shri Dudheshwar Nath Math Mahadev Temple in Ghaziabad is gearing up for the grand celebration of Shravan Shivratri. Lakhs of devotees and Kanwariyas from across the country are expected to visit the temple on August 10 and 11 to offer Jalabhishek to Lord Dudheshwar Nath Mahadev.

The religious ceremonies will be conducted as per Vedic rituals and traditions under the guidance of temple Peethadhishwar Param Pujya Shri Mahant Narayan Giri Maharaj.

Second Shravan Monday and Pradosh on August 10

According to temple media in-charge S.R. Suthar, Jalabhishek for Trayodashi and Pradosh will begin at 8 am on Monday, August 10. The day also marks the second Monday of the holy Shravan month, when a large number of devotees are expected to reach the temple to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Jalabhishek on Chaturdashi and the occasion of Shravan Shivratri will begin at 6 am on Tuesday, August 11. Special worship and Jalabhishek will continue throughout the day and night.

Eight Prahar Puja on Shravan Shivratri

Special eight-prahar worship and Abhishek of Lord Dudheshwar Nath Mahadev will be performed on Shravan Shivratri as per Vedic traditions.

Mahant Girishanand Giri Maharaj of the Prachin Devi Mandir, Delhi Gate, will perform the special Dhoop-Deep Aarti of Lord Dudheshwar.

The sixth Prahar Puja will be held from 8 pm to 10 pm, the seventh Prahar from 11 pm to 1 am, and the eighth Prahar from 2 am to 4 am.

The temple premises are expected to resonate with chants of Lord Shiva, Vedic mantras and devotional prayers throughout the night.

Temple Gates to Remain Open 24 Hours

During the two-day Kanwar Mela from August 10 to August 11, the temple gates will remain open round the clock for devotees and Kanwariyas.

Arrangements have also been made for food and rest facilities for Kanwariyas. Temple volunteers will remain deployed 24 hours a day to assist devotees and ensure smooth arrangements.

Mahant Narayan Giri Monitoring Arrangements from London

Temple media in-charge S.R. Suthar said that Shri Mahant Narayan Giri Maharaj is currently in London, where he is participating as the chief guest at the Sant Sansad.

Despite being abroad, Mahant Narayan Giri is regularly taking updates on the arrangements for the Kanwar Mela and Shravan Shivratri celebrations and issuing necessary directions to the temple management.

Special Arrangements by Administration and Temple Committee

Temple Development Committee president Anuj Dharam Garg appealed to devotees to maintain discipline, patience and peace while visiting the temple and offering Jalabhishek.

He said special arrangements are being made by the district administration, police administration, Municipal Corporation and temple authorities to ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience.

Shringar Seva Samiti president Vijay Mittal and his team are also actively involved in preparations for the Kanwar Mela.

Temple manager Amit Sharma, Acharya Laxmikant, Shankar Jha, Puneet Pawa, secretary, Acharya Toyraj and hundreds of volunteers and organisers will remain engaged in providing services to devotees.

Kanwar Camps Inaugurated

Mahant Girishanand Giri Maharaj also inaugurated several Kanwar camps on Sunday. The camps have arrangements for accommodation, food and Prasad for Kanwariyas. Devotional programmes and Bhajan sessions are also being organised at the camps.

The temple committee said devotees will perform Jalabhishek, Rudrabhishek, recitation of the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra and chanting of “Om Namah Shivaya” during Shravan Shivratri.

With lakhs of devotees expected to arrive, the historic Dudheshwar Nath Temple is set to witness a grand confluence of faith, devotion and spirituality during Shravan Shivratri 2026.
