National Handloom Expo (NHDP) NER -2022 Start at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi-110001

Handloom products from North East States like silk stoles, dupattas, bags, waistcoats, home furnishings, mufflers, sarees, handloom accessories, etc., were showcased at Handloom Haat, New Delhi. The fifteen day long Handloom Expo will continue till 15th of March. The National Handloom Expo is sponsored by Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and organized by Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland.

The inaugural function was held on Tuesday and the Chief Guest for the evening was Shri Jyoti Kalash, IAS, Chief Resident Commissioner, New Delhi & Addl. Chief Secretary, Nagaland. He inaugurated the expo by cutting the ribbon in the presence of Shri. Wennyei Konyak, NCS, DRC, Nagaland House and other officials from Nagaland House, various Ministries and Directorate of Industries. The participants in the ongoing National Handloom Expo were Clusters/ Agencies, Cooperative Societies, SHGs, Federations, Corporations, National Awardees and master weavers from across the states.

Commenting on the Expo, Shri Tekatemsu Ao, Liaison Officer, Directorate of Industries and Commerce, said “Through this expo, we are given an opportunity to showcase the unique textile products of loinloom and handloom to a larger audience. It will aid in promoting marketing platforms like buyers-sellers meet directly at the national level”. Further, he went on to say that they are thankful to Development Commissioner for Handloom, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India for sponsoring the event.
