Jharkhand-Jamshedpur : Mukhtar Ansari gang’s notorious shooter Anuj Kannaujia was finally killed in a police encounter. A joint team of Uttar Pradesh STF (Gorakhpur unit) and Jharkhand police surrounded him in Jamshedpur, after which there was heavy firing from both sides. Anuj Kannaujia was killed by the police in the encounter.
UP STF received information that Anuj was plotting to carry out a criminal act in Jamshedpur. UP STF contacted Jharkhand police. At 10:30 pm on Saturday night, the police surrounded Anuj’s hideout in Chhota Govindpur. Seeing himself surrounded, Anuj started firing at the police in the early hours of Sunday. In response, the police also fired.
Anuj Kannaujia was a criminal with a bounty of Rs 2.5 lakh and the police was looking for him in many serious cases. According to the police, he used to recruit shooters for the Mukhtar Ansari gang and plot murders. The police have recovered weapons and other objectionable items from the spot.
