Sitapur : In a major anti-corruption crackdown, the Anti-Corruption Team arrested Anupam Srivastava, a clerk (peshkar) posted in the SDM office, while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh. The incident has triggered panic within the local administrative setup.

Bribe Demanded for Mutation Case Clearance

According to reports, a farmer was facing objections in a land mutation (dakhil-kharij) case. It is alleged that the accused demanded ₹1 lakh to resolve the objection and clear the file. Frustrated by the demand, the farmer approached the Anti-Corruption Team, which then planned a trap operation.

Caught Red-Handed, Chemical Test Confirms Bribe

Acting on the complaint, the Anti-Corruption Team laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting the bribe. During the operation, officials conducted a chemical test in public view—when the accused dipped his fingers into the solution, the water turned pink, confirming contact with the treated currency notes.

Arrested in Public, Taken to Police Station

The dramatic action drew a crowd at the spot. The team immediately took the accused into custody and transported him to the police station, where further legal proceedings are underway.
